The Farm

A working farm you're welcome to join in with

From collecting freshly laid eggs, helping with the sheep and alpaca work, watching shearing demonstrations by Lindsay, helping with the annual olive harvest, to walks across the paddocks and marsh lands. This picturesque escape lets guests experience life on a farm, in a glamorous setting.

Olive Harvest

Each year we pick our olives between March and April to get the best quality from the produce.

Lambs

We have one lambing cycle per year, with lambs beginning born from Easter through to the beginning of July.

The Ladies

Come visit our Ladies. They love a scratch and leave us 6 delicious eggs a day.

Around it all sit approximately 7000 native species established, planted in belts across the farm over the years, and the olive grove that the ceremony space is cut into.

Your hosts

Meet Lindsay and Gaby

Lindsay and Gaby live on their 150 acre property overlooking the beautiful Lake Charm, but love to travel anywhere, when they can. Lindsay is a third generation farmer in Lake Charm, and Gaby moved to the area with her German parents 43 years ago, nearly a local.

They have lived in China for two years and since travelled to Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, the UK, New Zealand and around Victoria. Gaby is a teacher and Lindsay a retired shearer.

They are easy going and welcoming to all those that wish to respectfully share their bit of paradise, and are very involved in the Kerang Lakes community, supporting eco development, landcare, arts and promotion of the little known slice of heaven in northern Victoria.

Meet Billie

Farm support and grounds keeping assistant, born September 2019

Billie is a highlight of our reviews, with visitors consistently praising his friendly nature and playful ball mad spirit.

How the lodge came to be

The family has farmed at Lake Charm since 1956. In 1994 Lindsay and Gaby purchased the family farm, and in 1999 they redeveloped the whole property, improving water efficiency through new irrigation infrastructure and planting trees in belts across the farm.

Charm Lodge became in 2009 on a bare, open paddock overlooking Lake Charm. The house was the official last build by Gaby's parents, K & E Anton Builders. The two storey lodge was architecturally designed with the main brief to take in the lake views whilst being resource efficient. Seventy loads of soil were trucked in, and the expansive lawns and tiered native gardens were established over several years.

Charm Lodge became a guest house and bnb in 2014.

“The thinking was, if you can't travel around the world to others, invite others from across the world to you.”

We had an absolutely superb experience at Charm Lodge driving from Sydney to Adelaide. Gaby and Lindsay looked after us brilliantly, with the most thoughtfully created breakfast and dinner hampers and having the fire lit when we arrived. The dome tent was set up beautifully and they also set up a separate tent for our kids. The stars were SO bright and the sunrise spectacular. One of the most special nights we have had as a family.

Was there last weekend for a wedding. Lindsay and Gabby and Amber went above and beyond for the bride and groom. A gorgeous place, comfortable beds, very clean. My husband and I were so impressed that we are going back for a stay. Highly recommend.

Had a gorgeous stay at Charm Lodge, such a beautiful location, quiet and peaceful with the natural beauty of the lake at your doorstep. The hosts were lovely, the rooms were perfectly clean and very comfortable. Was a delight to see the farm animals, and Billie the dog was a big hit. The range of accommodation options were a delight to choose from, will definitely be back.

I am absolutely smitten with Charm Lodge! Nestled beautifully by Lake Charm, this venue is a photographer's dream, and a true delight for couples and their guests. Charm Lodge offers multiple stunning spaces to both photograph and enjoy, whether it's exchanging vows among the olive groves, in the open fields, or inside the charming vintage barn. What really sets Charm Lodge apart is the personal touch they bring to every wedding.
